Interview with Clementine

Hopefully you all tuned in to check out my interview with Gretchen Menn guitarist of Zepparella because recently I had the wonderful opportunity to chat with another band member, founder and drummer of Zepperella: Clementine! Clementine and I had a chat face to face (or computer to computer) and talked about her life in the music industry. Now, a bit about Clementine. She is extremely accomplished in the world of music, and so involved she is/was part of numerous musical projects including: Zepparella, Bottom, AC/DSHE, House of More, Francis Bakin, The Solid, Stars Turn Me On and her own solo work. She also doesn’t just play drums but she writes music and sings. She is an incredibly talented musician who is humble, funny, inspiring and well versed in all things music- I cannot wait for you to meet her! Check out the interview below and please follow or like Clementine and Zepparella on social media and listen to Clemetine’s music because there will definitely be something you’ll love!

Interview with Chris Emray

It’s about time I posted this interview…technology, technology…causing me problems again. Anyways! I had the pleasure sitting down (on Skype) with Chris Emray almost two weeks ago to discuss his music. Now- a bit of background on Chris: he’s a musician from Austria, he can play numerous instruments (and sing) and he is currently working on lots of new music for his upcoming record! This interview was special for me as it was the first one with a major time difference. So of course, I tried to prepare by timing the interview accurately…and I didn’t and I was late..so kind of embarrassing. Chris however, was awesome about my mistake and we had a great conversation where I got to learn about how he got into music, what is coming next for him and what he is currently listening to! The first song I heard of by Chris was “High” and it can be found on his Facebook page– make sure to check out the incredible scenery in this video. Besides this song, on his page you are able to watch him cover songs by U2, Incubus and more. Chris is a very talented artist who is definitely worth the listen

Below you can find all of Chris Emray’s social media links so please show him some love by liking his pages and listening to his music.

Interview with Dre Pao

fullsizerender

It’s been a while since my last Skype interview, almost 3 months to be exact but now i’m here with a special treat. I had a chat with Hamilton’s, Dre Pao where we talked all about his unique original music, and his songwriting. Before we get into the interview I think you should know a bit about this artist. First of all, he does not just sing in English but Spanish! Before he got deeper into music, he studied Political Science at McMaster University. So all you students out there….don’t think you’re just limited to what you study because you can definitely keep doing what you love! Dre was discovered by Universal Music’s Xuso Jones and was mentored by Lenny DeRose (who worked with Walk off the Earth & Tragically Hip). Below are a couple more highlights from his career:

  • Signed a independent recording deal with 110 Studio’s in 2014-2015
  • Dre opened for Grammy nominated artist B.o.B in Toronto (2015 Canadian tour)
  • In late 2015/ early 2016, Dre completed a publishing project with Latin producer Juan De Sedas
  • In June 2016 Dre became one of the Official Sponsors of the Street Interview Show / Podcast – Wut R U Sayin‘ — which discusses pop culture topics and trending news stories from around the world. This podcast airs weekly on iTunes so look for it everyone!

Below you can find links to all of his social media platforms as well as the interview. Don’t forget to show Dre Pao your support!

Interview With Mise

13731657_278926632467018_1923243969578418229_n

Here is the interview you have all been waiting for…my first in person interview! Last year beginning in October I ran a songwriting contest partnered with Hive Studios in Hamilton. The winner of the songwriting contest would receive some free recording time at the studio as well as an interview with myself. The winner of the songwriting contest (who you will soon meet), is Kevin, who goes by Mise! He entered his song Alive (Doing It Right) and received the winning vote. In May I visited Hive Studios to conduct my interview with the contest winner. While I was at first nervous- the experience was awesome and the finished product turned out great.

NOW…back to the main focus of this post: MISE! Mise is an alternative-pop musician based in Toronto. If you want to get a sneak peak of his music…head right over to listen to: Scars (The Improv Session) or check out some of his demos here.   While pursuing his music, Kevin was juggling school as well. Now that he has a bit of free time (before more school) he has been recording his EP at Hive Studios and working with Eric and Michael to produce some music that will show off his style. In the humorous and inspiring interview watch as we discuss recording, inspirations behind music, the difficulties of being in the industry and more! In addition, below are all of Mise’s social media links- please give a like, a subscribe, or a follow and support this aspiring artist. Stay tuned for a special announcement from him on July 25th (head over to his Facebook page-link below) and look out for the release of his single Alive (Doing It Right) in August.

Without further ado! Meet Mise.

Thank You!!!

I would like to also take some time to do a couple shoutouts to those who made this interview possible: Thank you to Kevin for being a great interviewee- I cannot wait to hear your EP! Thank you to Michael and Eric of Hive Studios for providing me with the location to conduct my interview, for letting me use your equipment and for conducting the songwriting contest with me. I am very glad I got to meet both of you and I look forward to working together in the future. Another large thank you to Bradlee who recorded and edited the video, could not have done it without you! Last but not least a thank you to my sister Serena for helping with set up.

Interview with Ventriloquus: Behind Oil & Rubble

As you all know, Ventriloquus recently released his EP Oil & Rubble. If you haven’t yet had a listen, check out my review here. After I had some time to review the incredible EP, I scheduled a time to have an interview with Ventriloquus himself. In addition, learn some valuable advice about following your dreams in the music industry. Press play on the video below to sit in on our discussion and while you’re at it…hit subscribe to both Ventriloquus and myself!

“Its a dog eat dog kind of industry, and there’s so many clamouring voices trying to be heard and you have to keep going back to why am I doing this? Do I love doing it? Or am I trying to get attention from it…just keep your mindset right”- Ventriloquus

I’ve been communicating with Brock for months now and we finally found a time that worked to schedule a well overdue interview. The timing turned out just great considering they just finished recording a new album that is set to be released in the next few months- so stay tuned for that announcement. You are also able to pre-order their new album “Unsaved Progress” at the link here. The interview was a great insider’s perspective about what it’s like for bands in the music industry. Both Ian and Brock were very informative and a pleasure to discuss music with. Have a look at the interview I had below where they talk about everything from starting up as a band, their new album and more!
